teen voters understanding voting value.

Voters under 29 were the first to anoint Barack Obama as their candidate, Which means teens are the cause of history and change in the making. Reversing a general decline that began in 1972, youth turnout leap in 2004, and in the early contests in this primary season it was up sharply. We might all remember diddys "VOTE OR DIE" campaign back in 2004, which lead to more and more teens understanding the importance and value of voting. as i read on in a NYTIMES article, the write truly believes that some 16 year olds have the maturity to cast vote.

Similarly, 16-year-olds who want to start voting should be able to obtain an “early voting permit” from their high schools upon passing a simple civics course similar to the citizenship test. Besides increasing voter registration, this system would reinforce the notion of voting as a privilege and duty as well as a right — without imposing any across-the-board literacy tests for those over 18. -Anya Kamenetz.

this kinda does sound cool, but at the age of 16 some kids are just "going with the flow" with what there peers say and they don't giving a flying hoot about government since they don't really know much about it. To me voting is privilege, i get to cast a vote from my own mind and i have a duty to let the united sates know how i feel. Maye their are some political savvy 16 year olds out there that feel the same way i do. but the wait to be 18 might just make them smarter on politics.

What' up Kendrita,
Well first of all I enjoyed reading youe opinions in this article. You had good points that caught my attention for example, it would be awesome for 16 year old's to vote imagine how cool would that be. in the other hand like you said if this was a right most of them would go for what their peers say without knowing the candidates role. Its great that the title is given to us the young peers because like you said this year will be history and its going to be asked what was the majority of voters and people from 18-29 will be the answer=)

I definitely agree with you Kendra. I believe that teenagers should wait until they are 18, because probably by then they think more maturely. Sometimes teens just go with the flow of their friends and they do not really express what they believe. If these happens then it will to help when they are voting because they are doing what other people are telling them. Teenagers just wait until you are 18.

I agree with you if teens are consider mature enough to work and pay taxes then why not let them vote. I think that if you let teens of 16 years or older vote the voting percent will increase. I enjoyed reading this article. About what you talked about Barack Obama it's funny how he looks young that's basically the reason why Obama has mostly all of the young voters.
